Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
I think the immediate thought is that something simple is clear, plain, undemanding, straightforward, and uncomplicated…but this can be farther from the truth.
Attaining true simplicity out of the most complex matters, is sophisticated. The more complex it is, the harder it is to simplify. Think of all the things you use daily, simple to use yet, get inside one of them and you start to realize how complex they are! Yes, your smart phone is one of them and Steve Jobs would agree,
Sounds easy right?
Parting away from a tangible device and into a more inspiring and thought-provoking topic, Science, think about research and how such a complex field requires simplicity amidst the surmounting complexity in trying to achieve a novel concept!
Among the vast amounts of data and knowledge gathered, meaningful results must be extracted and analyzed to provide notable unprecedented breakthroughs that can become actionable applications to our advancement in health, society, and industry. For this to happen, these complex ideas must be bundled in simplicity so that they can be implemented successfully. Simplicity certainly does not denote elementary.
I think Leonardo encapsulates this in–what better else but–concise and simple phrase. Oh and…Happy Birthday Leonardo da Vinci (April 15, 1452–May 2, 1519)!
